Technical Curriculum

Helitrox

The TDI Helitrox Diver sequence develops decompression planning and execution using helium-containing mixes to reduce narcosis while maintaining disciplined staged ascent behavior.

Course focus

Training covers theory, methods, and in-water procedures for staged decompression dives to a maximum depth of 45m / 150ft. You will work through gas requirements, oxygen/nitrogen/helium limitations, decompression gas selection, and contingency procedures for real-world technical dives.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age 18
  • Minimum certification of SDI Advanced Diver (with Deep specialty) or TDI Intro to Tech Diver, or equivalent
  • Certified as TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver (unless taught concurrently)
  • Proof of 50 logged dives

Outcome

Graduates are prepared to conduct helitrox and nitrox decompression dives within training limits using breathing mixes with no greater than 35% helium and up to 100% oxygen for decompression. This class also sets a direct foundation for Extended Range, Advanced Wreck, and Trimix progression.
